Texas Hold'em

  • What's Texas Hold'em?
  • Texas Hold'em is the most popular of all poker variations. Each player is dealt two hole cards in Texas hold'em with the overall goal of making the best five-card hand.
    Play moves clockwise around the table, starting with action to the left of the dealer button. Each new hand begins with a small blind, a big blind, and a round of betting. The betting rules vary depending upon whether the game is Limit, Pot Limit or No Limit.
  • Hold'em Terminology
  • Blinds
  • The blinds are forced bets posted by two players to the left of the dealer button to start the game.
  • Hole Card or Hand
  • Hole cards or hand are two face down cards that each players privately posses.
  • Pre Flop
  • The First round of betting when each players receives two cards.
  • Flop
  • Flop is the dealing of the first three face-up cards on the community card.
  • Turn
  • Turn is the fourth card dealt, face-up on the board, in community card.
  • Rive
  • River is final card dealt in a poker hand, to be followed by a final round of betting.
  • Betting Terminology
  • -BettingOpening bet of round of betting during the play of a hand.

    -RaiseTo increase the size of an existing bet in the same betting round.

    -CheckIf no one has opened the betting round, a player may pass or check.

    -FoldTo discard one's hand and forfeit interest in the current pot.

    -All inWagering all of the amount player posses at a given time.

  • Hand Ranking
  • 1. ROYAL STRAIGHT FLUSH
  • A straight from a ten to an ace with all five cards oA straight from a ten to an ace with all five cards of the same suit.
  • 2. STRAIGHT FLUSH
  • Any straight with all five cards of the same suit.
  • 3. FOUR OF KIND
  • Any four cards of the same rank.
  • 4. FULL HOUSE
  • Any three cards of the same rank together with any two cards of the same rank.
  • 5. FLUSH
  • Five cards of the same suit.
  • 6. STRAIGHT
  • Five cards in sequence.
  • 7. THREE OF KIND
  • Three cards of the same rank.
  • 8. TWO PAIR
  • Two cards of a matching rank, another two cards of a different matching rank.
  • 9. ONE PAIR
  • Two cards of a matching rank.
  • 10. HIGH CARD
  • Any hand not in the above-mentioned hands such as no pairs.
